SpaItalia SpaItalia celebrates 110th anniversary of Maserati

The winter months are a fitting period to lay the foundations for incredibly beautiful projects later in the year. That is why DG Sport is pulling out all the stops to turn the 21st edition of SpaItalia, the not-to-miss event at the beginning of Summer, into a fantastic party. In the wake of a fittingly celebrated anniversary edition, there is a first announcement that will make the hearts of Italian car enthusiasts beat faster: this year, SpaItalia 2024 will celebrate, among other things, the 110th anniversary of Maserati!

For it was in 1914 that Alfieri Maserati created the famous brand with the trident, with headquarters in Modena. It was clear from the start that motorsport would play an important role, although it took another twelve years before the first car with a genuine Maserati logo appeared on the circuits: the Tipo 26.

After the Orsi family bought the brand name, Maserati built several legendary sports cars, starting with the 250F with which Juan Manuel Fangio drove to the Formula 1 world title. Later, the exceptional Tipo 60 and 61 'Birdcage' also followed. The first road-going Maserati, the 3500 GT, rolled off the production line in 1957. Other legendary models followed, such as the Mistral, Bora, Merak, Ghibli, etc. Maserati was successively owned by Citroën, de Tomaso and Chrysler, before Fiat took the reins, thus turning the brand with the trident into a stablemate of… Ferrari, once the eternal rival of Maserati!

An immense exhibition will beautifully illustrate this eventful history at SpaItalia, and there will also be modern Maserati cars on show, such as the Grecale, Ghibli, Levante, Quattroporte, Granturismo and the MC20.

Without a doubt, there will be a lot of passion in the air on the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday, June 16th...
